About us

History

 

  • 1959 Takeover of a small chrome-plating works in Engelburg by the company founders, husband-and-wife team Isolde and Eugen Stalder.
     
  • 1959 Occupation of the new building at Breitschachenstrasse 53. First waste water system. Chrome plating and galvanisation offered.
     
  • 1969 Anodising of aluminium introduced, hence a new building is erected for the processing of aluminium.
     
  • 1973 From a single-proprietorship firm, Stalder is converted into a joint stock company, Stalder AG.
     
  • 1976 Development of the main building. This includes new offices, a fully automated galvanisation plant and a new waste water system.
     
  • 1981 Purchase of the neighbouring site, establishment of the second factory with a barrel galvanisation plant.
     
  • 1983 A further stage of building follows. Multi-purpose building with colour anodising plant, workshop, training room with canteen and laboratory.
     
  • 1987 Launch of pickling and electropolishing of stainless steel.
     
  • 1990 Thanks to rapid development in the area of electropolishing of stainless steel, a new building for this process is created: Factory 3
     
  • 1994 Upgrade of factory 1: New offices and additional production space. Certification of the QM system according to ISO 9002 follows in the same year.
     
  • 1999 Takeover of Metallwaren AG as factory 4. A fully automated galvanisation plant is installed here.
      
  • 2000 Introduction of an innovative process – barrel electropolishing.
     
  • 2004 Launch of an innovative process, barrel electropolishing.
     
  • 2005 The hard-anodising of aluminium is incorporated into the range of finishing processes as an additional procedure.

  • 2007 New building and upgrade of anodising plant and projecting roof on factory 1. Development of the barrel electropolishing plant and new installation of a central ventilation system.

  • 2008 The waste water system is equipped with cutting-edge computer controls.

  • 2009 Stalder AG celebrates its 50th anniversary. Successful certification according to ISO 14001. Stalder AG awarded Environment Trophy 2009.

  • 2011 Complete overhaul of automatic electropolishing plant, plant controls are replaced with fully-automated process control.

  • 2012 New installation of recirculating water system

  • 2013 New construction of factory 4, addition of a hall to factory 2, new parking spaces

  • 2014 55th anniversary of Stalder AG, new installation of a fully automated barrel galvanisation plant including new exhaust air installation in factory 4. Takeover of the surface technology branch of Color Metal GmbH based in Heitersheim, the market leader in barrel anodising of small parts in bulk.

  • 2015 New construction of factory 2, launch of a new plant for barrel anodising

  • 2017 Moved into service centre, which offers additional services such as inspection, packaging, assembly etc.

  • 2018 New installation of a fully automatic anodising plant incl. new cooling system in factory 3.

  • 2019 The barrel galvanizing line is converted to a cyanide-free process.
